Although they are designed to be used as a Mouth to Lung (MTL) style of vaping, pods feature a very similar construction as normal devices. However, ultimately, they still do the same job and will hold your chosen e-liquid within the device before vaporising it when you draw on the device.
Due to their small size, pods have a far lower battery capacity, usually around 300mAh, which means they are not able to last as long as other devices on the market. Usually, vapers will have the option of choosing between an open pod and a closed pod. A closed pod is a device that is very similar to a replacement e-cigarette and will come pre-filled with a particular vape juice. Once this has been depleted, it is impossible to refill, which means that there is often very few flavours and options to choose from.
On the other hand, an open pod is refillable and acts much more like an ordinary vape tank by allowing you to fill it with your favourite e-liquid. This makes open pods more popular as the flexible nature means users can swap and change their vape juice as desired.
Although pod devices are very popular, they are not always the most compatible of devices for e-liquids with a high Vegetable Glycerine (VG) ratio. Instead, users should opt for a vape juice that has a higher Propylene Glycol (PG) and nicotine ratio, although many users are still able to enjoy a smooth experience with low nicotine solutions.
Due to their small nature, vape pods are also a more cost-effective solution compared to mods, and as technology continues to develop, their power and battery life is increasing too.

Of course, vape pods do have some disadvantages when compared to the bigger vape mods. The most common disadvantage is that they have a much shorter battery life in comparison, and although technology is seeing them last longer, they are still not at the level of the larger devices.
Another setback of using pod devices is that they do not work as well with those e-liquids that have a higher ratio of Vegetable Glycerine. Although there are many options with a low VG rate, some of the most popular on the market do have a high ratio which means the e-liquid does not perform as effectively.
Another common disadvantage, particularly in the closed vape pods, is the lack of options available. While open vape pods let users utilise any e-liquid they prefer, the closed versions are very limited in their selection which can be a little off-putting.
