What are the different types of vape coils?

There are many different types of vape coil available to you, and you can seriously enhance your vaping experience by finding one that suits your needs perfectly. To learn more about your various vape coil options, read our guide today.

Vape coils: what you need to know

The job of a vape coil is to produce vapour and provide the flavour given to you by your e-juice. Many people easily get confused about vape coils because they go by so many different names. These include atomisers, heads and so on. Whatever you want to call them, these products are the vital part of your device that creates the vapour. There may be many different types of vape coil in the market, but most are built similarly. Most coils have a metal outer casing which plays host to a wire coil and wicking material. This wicking material is normally cotton. This can either be wrapped around the coil or pushed through it.

How does my coil operate?

Your coil receives power when you press the button on your battery. This causes the coil to heat up. When you pull on your vape, e-liquid is drawn into the wicking. When the juice hits the coil, it is turned into a vapour.

What are my options when it comes to vape coils?

There are different vape coils for different vaping products. What works perfectly fine in one device may not fit into another. You can take a look at the documentation and packing that came with your device to find out which coil you need. At Next Day Vapes, we offer a range of coils that feature different resistances and wire types. Our range of coils includes lower resistance coils that give you more flavour and high resistance coils that create bigger clouds. We also stock handmade coils.

What kind of materials are coils made from?

Kanthal (an iron, chromium, and aluminium alloy) is the most common type of wire used to make coils and is a brand name. The material is made from three metals. Nichrome is similar to Kanthal but is a blend of two metals. This is a thin wire that heats up quickly. Stainless steel is also used to manufacture coil wire, as are titanium and nickel.

What are the most common types of coils?

Vertical coils feature a single wrap of wire that runs from the bottom of the casing to the top. Dual coils are similar to vertical coils only there are two wraps of wire. When more coils are available, you have more resources to produce vapour and heat your vape juice. Triple coils offer even more surface area to deliver huge vape clouds. Twisted coils are ideal for those prioritising flavour as they feature several strands of wire. Mesh coils also have a vast surface area and are great for maximising flavour. Net coils are similar to mesh coils but feature bigger holes.
